The IGDA Game Design SIG was officially approved on 22 December, 2008. The SIG is currently governed by an Interim Steering Committee (ISC) while arrangements are made for the first formal elections. The members of the ISC are:

The ISC is not a governing body in the same capacity as the elected SIG board: its responsibilities are limited to establishing the foundation of the SIG. Specifically, the ISC will:
The ISC will host the first official election for SIG board members. Details regarding candidacy and election procedures will be made available as that time draws near. When the election has finished, the ISC will hand governance of the SIG over to the newly-elected board; then, the real fireworks will begin!
